Social Networking - Does it have a place in RV parks?

To read the full article and see the website this pic came from, click on this link: http://blog.rv.net/

I just read a very interesting article mentioning that when a couple went to an RV park, they noticed that the owner of the RV park not only had a website, but also a way for others to follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

I am a part of both of these social networks.  I have noticed an increase of websites that say "Follow me on Twitter," "Like me on Facebook," "Digg me on Digg," or other ways to follow the businesses.  As an affiliate marketer, I know that the more ways people can find you, the better.  More accessibility creates more loyal customers, and in the business world, a loyal customer is CRUCIAL to maintaining success.

I also think that people like doing business with people.  They like knowing that business owners have families and do something other than work.  At least for my uses, I use Facebook for social purposes and Twitter for business purposes (though I just signed up on LinkedIn tonight, so, we'll see how that will change).

I want to hear your opinions.  There is more accessibility for wi-fi on the road and in RV parks.  Do you think RVers are very tech-savvy?  Do they use the computer that much?  Would it be useful for RV parks to not only list their website, but other ways for people to find them?

Since we're on the subject, if interested, you can: Follow me on Twitter at: www.twitter.com/lapstarr or Friend me on Facebook (but please include a message - I'm picky about who I add as friends) at www.facebook.com and look for Lisa Paxton Starr (I still don't know how to get to my direct link.  If you do, please let me know).  My profile pic is of me water skiing.

Winter RV and tent camping information

This is from www.rvcoop.com

I know that for some of you - summer has not yet ended.  Yet, maybe for you, with the children going back to school and the weather (I'm sure in some parts of the country - not here yet) cooling down, thoughts of winter enter your mind.  RVing and the fun does not have to end yet.  There are plenty of things to do in different parts of the country, and world.

When I went to college, I took a winter camping course, and it was actually fun building.  On our final exam so to speak, I enjoyed (though it was HARD work) building our own igloo, snowshoeing, hiking, singing around the campfire, and just doing different things to keep warm.  Our igloo was even too warm with the body heat at night, that it started melting.

These, except for the first, mostly apply to tent camping.  Hey, if you're a full-time RVer, most likely you like to camp in the RV.  But just in case you're like me, someone who is interested in doing both, these books might apply to you.   Or maybe, they'll just give you hope that you can still have fun though winter is coming soon (sorry if this post offends anyone.  My sister calls "snow" another four-letter word.  If you aren't ready to read this post yet, just wait a few months:P ).

If you are just interested in checking out some information on different websites, look below.

Don't know if any are THIS adventurous, but, wouldn't it be AWESOME to RV (or even go - that's my #1 place I want to travel in the world) in NEW ZEALAND!  RV in NZ: How to Spend Your Winters Freedom Camping South--Way South in New Zealand

Many people only think of this national park in the summer, but no, it's open ALL year long for things to do.  Look at my post on "Heading to Yellowstone" for an RV park nearby.  Winter Camping in Yellowstone National Park [VHS]

This is just a general guide to what you can to and where you can go to camp in the winter.  The Winter Camping Handbook: Wilderness Travel & Adventure in the Cold-Weather Months, Updated Edition

This would be me - I'd build another igloo and go winter camping in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself.  The outdoorsman's guide to wilderness camping: A complete manual for the adventurous camper, including plans for tent making and camping in the snow

If you like birds and would like to see some winged beauties in the winter, check out this book.  Wings of winter.(Wildlife)(chickadees, nuthatches, birds seen in winter times): An article from: Camping Life

Do you like to cross-country ski or snowshoe?  There are many more locations (like California, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Maine, Texas) that were more specific on Amazon to either camp or ski, but I just chose one.  Ski and Snowshoe Trails in the Adirondacks

Do you like to rock/ice climb?  Here's the perfect book for you! Selected Climbs in the Northeast: Rock, Alpine, and Ice Routes from the Gunks to Acadia

For some websites more specifically to RVing in the winter, you've come to the right place.  Please look below for the best websites I've found on the subject:

http://www.rvtravel.com/publish/rvinginthewinter.shtml This is a article on what specifically to do to make your RV ready for winter

http://www.rv-life-and-travel.com/cold-weather-rving.html  This site takes a little longer to get to the information you might need - you have to click one of the links on the left side, but there is a wealth of information useful to any RVer.

http://www.marxrv.com/skp/survive.htm An article mostly for Full-Time RVers of how to best keep your RV going during the winter months.

http://www.rvliving.net/winter.htm More advice on winterizing RV - similar to the others, but had some different and useful information.

Keep warm, safe, and functional in those RVs, if using, this winter!

Livestrong

Anyone ever heard of Livestrong or seen anyone with plastic bracelet?  Did you know this is the Lance Armstrong Foundation?

How does this have to do with RVing or RV parks????  The website for this foundation had RV parks, of many different places (Texas, Tenessee, California for starters).  Not only does it have RV parks, but it has Golf Courses, Wedding Locations, and Youth Activities in certain locations as well.

If you have an RV park to advertise, or anything else (there's a place for national campaigns and for ad campaigns less than $5,000 as well), this is a place you can do it.

The website is: http://www.livestrong.com/local-rv-parks/new/

RV Parks in Colorado

Click on photo for its source
If wanting to also find out about national parks, check out this blog post.

Also, if wanting to find RV Parks in a few other states, click on the state interested in: FL, UT, NV

If you're a visual, or spacially intellegent person, Amazon has a map of RV campgrounds in Colorado: Colorado Private RV Campgrounds Map: State Road Map Locating Colorado's Owner Operated Campgrounds

www.rvparkreviews.com has a listing (in this link specifically) on reviews for Cherry State Park.  It also talks about other RV parks in other cities in Colorado.

http://www.coloradorvparks.net/ This is the link where I copied the photo above.  It is a website about RV parks, RV and tent camping, RV dealers and rentals - there's also a place you can get someone to plan your trip for you if you don't want to.

http://www.echobasin.com/ This is a ranch/resort that also has an RV park attached to it.  They have no scheduled activities but they can accommodate weddings and other large events.  It also has information like tourist attractions nearby.

www.rvparkhunter.com This can be for any state, but I made it so when you click on this link, it will direct you toward Colorado's RV parks.  There are many websites and pictures of the many RV parks in Colorado.

www.rv-clubs.us This is also for any state but this specific link leads to the state of Colorado.  There are also RV books, magazines, videos, accessories and other links.  Looks like a handy website.

Happy hunting!

Park Model RVs

Click on the pic and it will take you to the site from which I got it (www.rvbasics.com).  You can also read an article called "Retirees are Moving to Park Model Trailers in Upscale RV Resorts" if you're curious about what's happening these days in regards to Park Model RVs.

For a description of what Park Model Campers/Park Model Homes/ Park Model Motor Homes/ Park Model RV/Park Model RV/Park Home, look at my Glossary of Terms.

There are many sites you can go to find out about Park Model RVs, like:

http://www.parkmodelsdirect.com/ This site lets you choose the US state in which you are looking for a Park Model RV.

http://www.pinnacleparkhomes.com/ There are many pictures, testimonials, an award they've won, information on different floor plans and different types of Park Model RV/homes that may suit your needs.

http://www.athensparkhomes.com/ WOW!  Beautiful website that talks not only about Park Model Homes, but also Manufactured Homes, Cabins, financing, and shows many beautiful pictures.

http://www.athensparkhomes.com/ Gives a thorough definition about what Park Model RV/Homes are.  You can also find a definition on my Glossary of Terms post.

www.shopping.yahoo.com If you're looking for a used Park Model Home, look no further.

www.suncoasttrailers.com This is an amazing site that shows you the different types/styles of Park Model Homes/RVs.  Some of the Park Models look more like RVs and some of them look more like homes, which is probably why they're called both.

No RVs in this RV park....?!

Oh my!  There is a business in Alabama that has a sign posted saying, "RVs not welcome here," though it's on an RV park site.  Owner thinks that RVs are more detrimental to the land than the money they are bringing in.  Some have ideas to expand the park, but it doesn't sound like it's going to happen.

That's crazy - an RV park saying no RVs!  That's like a drive inn theater (though there aren't many open anymore) saying no cars, or a park saying no dogs!  I can't believe someone is trying to do that!  It doesn't even sound like there are GOOD reasons for it.

Gambling...for RVers??? Good idea or bad idea?

This is strictly my opinion, and I want to hear yours.  There is a gambling casino that is planning to appeal to full-time RVers, and part-time RVers.  They are planning to have some rooms inside the hotel and RVs that people can stay in for a lower cost.

I think that might be a good idea depending on how many RVers are gamblers.  I personally am not a gambler.  I can see it being a good idea if it's in a good location, that there are other attractions nearby where RVers can spend most of their time and go gambling in between the other things they do.  It could also be a good idea, for RVers that are traveling cross-country, if it's in the middle of nowhere to give RVers another pit stop.

It might also be a bad idea if there aren't enough RVers in that area of the country who are interested.  It mentioned that they would tailor to RVers, but the article didn't talk about any accommodations FOR RVs, just mentioned using RVs as discounted lodging.  If it's not a good location, people might not go, even if there is an interest.  I hope it's close to a major highway.

Traveling to RV Park - activity ideas inside an RV

Funny, FUNNY! I am SO going to do that once we get an RV. It's short, but shows inside an RV and why you'd rather travel to your RV park destination in an RV than in a regular car. You can't do this inside a regular car!

RV park reviews - B4 of after you go

Ever gone to an RV campsite only to be dissappointed? Want quality reviews based on the positives and negatives of an RV park?

The site is pretty simple - www.rvparkreviews.com - It reviews RV parks in USA, Canada, and Mexico. It also has a park locator. You can also write your own review based on your experience.

I can't give you reviews you'd need in order to make an educated decision, but I can get you the information so you can make the decision you need to.

You can also look at: Summer in the Parks...the Rockies by RV The purchase of this will help support my family.

RV parks in UT

I figured I might as well start at home and mention RV parks in my home state.

For any state, you can go to Yellowpages.com, GoodSamClub.com, DexKnows.com, KOA.com, or ask.com to find information.

If wanting to look at other states' RV Parks, click on the state in which you're interested: NV, CO, FL.

If interested in checking out national parks as well, click here to guide you to one of my blog posts.

Also, for any state in the Southwest, you can check out this book: Southwest Camping Destinations: RV and Car Camping Destinations in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah (Camping Destinations series)

Click on the link to find more info at the site from which I got it. It's like a search engine for RV parks in and of itself.  Utah - Camping, RV Parks, Campgrounds

http://rvparkhunter.com/state.asp?state=utah Good information for the whole state from north to south.  Also, this is from where I got the image above.

http://www.rubysinn.com/ Going to Bruce Canyon? Here's the website of the closest lodging.

http://www.templeviewrv.com/ In St. George near Zion's National Park.

http://www.lagoonpark.com/ Utah's own amusement park - has RV park right next to it - has rides, shows, food, a small zoo, games, sky ride, adventure zone.

http://www.portalrvresort.com/ Heading to Moab? You can hike, bike, (RV and tent), camp, 4-wheel, go off-roading, and not mention see the red rock.

http://www.parkcityrvresort.com/ Wanna check out Park City? Here's a good place to come in the winter as well as the summer. There's shopping, two places for water sports and fishing(Jordanelle and Deer Creek), Alpine Slides, skiing/snowboarding.

New name

I realized that I never should have used the name Skaggs RV in the first place. It's someone's name and a specific RV dealership. My conscience just got the best of me. I will keep the same information I already posted, but my new direction will be more specifically RV parks, as in places you can park your RV and theme parks that allow RV parking. I will also touch on RV resorts and beaches. I will do some research, have some opinions, and hopefully soon some interaction :)The new way to get to this blog is: http://parkrvparks.blogspot.com

For a book about RV parks from Amazon.com, check this out and help me support my family. Trailer Life RV Parks, Campgrounds, and Services Directory 2009 (Trailer Life Directory : Campgrounds, Rv Parks & Services)
